WHO IS RAILA ODINGA

 Raila Odinga is  Kenyan Politician who was born in 1945 by the first Vice President Of Kenya, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and Mary Juma.  He is the Brother to Oburu Odinga  and Rosemary Odinga.

Raila went to Maranda primary school, he later went to Maranda High school in 1962 before proceeding to Technical University of Magdeburge in 1965-1970 in Germany for master in Machenical Engineering before proceeding to Lecture in Nairobi University in 1970.In 1974 he left the University and he was employed as Bereau of Standard  and became the deputy director in 1978. 

In 1982 , he was accused of plotting coup against President Moi and he was detained for 6 years without trial.He was released and arrested again after six months for campaining for Multipartism.He seek refuge In Norway in 1991 after he was released and when he came back in 1992 he was elected as a member of national Assembly in Langata constituency with the FORD Kenya party ticket which was being led by His father. He became the leader of Ford Kenya party in 1994 when his father died upto 1996 , when he Join NDP. 

In 1997 he vied for presidency against Moi and Kibaki using NDP party but he loosed to Moi ,hence retaining the Position of Mp , KANU absorbed  NDP and Raila Odinga became the Minister Of Energy in 2001 , in 2002 he became the secretary general for KANU but ,he becamed Disappointment with Moi for Making Uhuru Kenyatta to be His succersor , several members of KANU including Raila formed The national rainbow party to protest against Moi choice . Raila formed the LDP party and merged it with Kibaki  ,National Rainbow part to form NARC. Kibaki won the 2002 Election hence making Kijana Wamalwa the President and failing to make changes in the constitution which was made to create a prime minister position for Raila as they had agreed before gaining support from him. Due to tension from Raila Kibaki created a weak position for prime minister while giving more strength to his position .2005 Kibaki left the refurendum but Raila teams vote against it. 2007 Raila won the ODM party ticket Against Mudavadi and Ruto to compete amongest Kibaki  for presidency. Kibaki won thus leading to Election violence as proclaimed by Raila allies that the votes were ridge by the PNU candidate UN sent Kofia Anna to use mediation inorder to bring peace to the Country. He created prime minister position to Raila and Kibaki Retain president, 2010 him together with Kibaki campaign for new constitution and they won, 2013-2017 he has consecutively competed with Uhuru Kenyatta for presidency but Uhuru won, This will be his 5 fifth times and we are waiting to see him as the fifth president of Kenya
