Unsual custorms practiced by the luo tribe
The luo are also called jaluo or jonagi, meaning Ramogi heirs
Sleeping with the dead-in the past, there was acustom among the luo people that the widow sleep in the same room with the body of their late husband before burial. This custom was meant to be the part of cleansing ritual to purify such women in readiness for inheritance
Not getting married before your elder sibling- The luo women was not to get married before their elder sisters. Woman of age were forced into marriage as elders frown upone celibacy and those trying it was at the risk of being cursed
Whipping , public shaming of suicide victims-There was a punishement for those who commit suicide .The body of aman that hangs himself on a tree was thoroughly flagged before it was brought down from the noose. The bod was buried outside home place refered to us as GUNDA which was set a side for such outcast. The act of canning the corpse was to stop the evil spirits from rooming back home and prompting other people to kill themselves
Great piece. Kindly make use of fullstops.
